3 Merchant Square
The 3 Merchant Square project consisted of thoughtfully designed hard and soft landscaped areas to complement a predominantly residential high specification development, as part of the substantial redevelopment of Paddington Basin.
The scope of works included waterproofing of the podium slab, formation of reinforced concrete over slabs, installation of bespoke stainless steel drainage, as well as the installation of canal coping stones - each weighing in excess of a third of a tonne. Works also involved installation of in excess of 2000m2 of granite paving, as well as radial cut granite paving for the bespoke water fountain, which was complemented by a radial granite amphitheatre.
Natural stone granite paving was laid to exacting standards, and was complemented by bespoke cast iron kerbs, tram tracks, cast iron benches incorporating hardwood seating, cast iron walls to form planters, dividing walls, and feature bollards containing lighting - all of which echoed back to the great engineering past of the Paddington area.
To further enhance the engineered elements of the project, lawns were laid as part of the canal side development, as well as a large hardwood decking area - to accommodate the numerous events the development continues to host.
